Nagano, JAPAN – 2002 World Figure Skating Championships, Ladies’ Free Skate – Fumie Suguri of Japan placed 3rd in the Free Skate to win the Bronze Medal here.
The first thing that came to my mind was how this looked like a Michelle Kwan program and was not surprised to hear that Lori Nichols worked with her here. The spirals and spin combos and choreo are so Lori Nichol. Anyways, she did absolutely amazing but shame at the triple loop. It would have been a tough decision for the judges to score the top 3.
I liked that Michelle Kwan always takes the world championship seriously even after the Olympics. Some skaters just don't bother showing up after the Olympics. I prefer the world championships than the olmpics.
I wish the ISU can stop skaters using the music with vocals on competition. It takes away the whole aura of competition. I wish they can reconsider it.
